What will HOPE look like?

HOPE will be a “Home Missions” ministry sponsored through the body of Christ in Penns Valley. The initial vision of this ministry will include the following. Preceding each area you will see a goal date for implementation.

  • Spring 2006 – HOPE for the hungry: Active food & clothing bank.
  • Spring 2006 – HOPE for the Hurting: Biblical counseling & mentoring.
  • Spring 2006 – HOPE Funds: Financial Assistance/ counseling.
  • Summer 2006 – HOPE Teams: Teams for each community

-        “Hope and Life” Bus pulls into the community

-        Tent areas set up

-        7 events, biweekly (from June – August) in Coburn, Centre Hall, Aaronsburg, Spring Mills, Rebersburg, Woodward, and Millheim.

-        Schedule is planned for dates and events.

-        Advertising begins early.

-        Have a variety of practical things available for the people to receive on these days….free groceries, free medical screenings, free dental screenings, free hair cuts, free legal advice, free counseling, prayer, Kids Arena, etc.

-        Team will have HOPE hats.

 

  • Summer 2006 – HOPE for kids: Specific areas to meet the needs of children and teens in Penns Valley.
  • Fall 2006 – Community HOPE: Teams in each community to help with the ongoing needs of the people.
  • Fall 2006 – HOPE Education: Financial courses, parenting skills, life skills, weight loss, Bible courses, etc. in order to see permanent lifestyle changes. All Biblically based.
  • Fall 2006 – HOPE for the Lonely: Biblical principles from James 1:27 which says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: too look after orphans and widows in their distress  and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
  • Fall/Winter 2006 – HOPE for the Hungry: Community food drives in the fall and winter. Free Thanksgiving dinner for the people of Penns Valley.

The Compassion Ministry Team (HOPE)will consist of the following:

  • Advertising Coordinator (events/ongoing)
  • Budget/Financial Coordinator (HOPE Funds)
  • Connection Coordinator (HOPE for the lonely)
  • Donation Coordinator (events/ongoing)
  • Education Coordinator (Classes)
  • Events/Location Coordinator (Events)
  • Kids/Teens Coordinator (HOPE for Kids)
  • Prayer/Counseling Coordinator (events/ongoing)
  • Professional Services Coordinator (events)
